This text is intended to be a supplement to any beginning guitar text, or it also may be a stand-alone text. As a classroom guitar teacher, it is necessary to have plenty of classroom material to fill the class time and keep students active in learning. Most published beginning guitar methods are intended for individual use and not for the classroom. There is rarely enough materials for classroom activities.

Quarter Four: Playing in First Position offers 55 pages of materials.  This text is formatted to offer weekly string exercises, accidentals, songs in the keys of C, G, F and D Major, duets, chords and scales all in first position.  Each week, students will have new materias to work on.  These materials get progressively harder each week.

At the completion of this text, students will be able to play all of the nores in the keys of C Major, A minor, G Major, E minor, F Major, D minor, D Major and B minor on all of the strings in first position.  Students will learn first position chords and scales as well as the accidentals in first position.  Students will study tuplets and right-hand studis including p-i-m-a.

Students who successfully complete Quarters 1, 2, 3, & 4 will have completed the new national standards as outlined by the National Association for Music Educators.
